Squirrel Love

We live in a building surrounded by trees, so squirrels hang out in our balconies and terrace a LOT. Remember the time we found baby squirrels in a shopping bag? Now, a couple of very hungry squirrels keep coming to our balcony – if the door is shut, I can get really close to the glass and it doesn’t bother them at all. I put sunflower seeds in a small metal bucket to lure them, stand behind the door with my camera, and snap pictures of them as they eat 🙂 There are very few things in this world cuter than squirrels eating their food!

Happy New Year, people! I hope 2013 is everything you want it to be, and more 🙂

I couldn’t have asked for anything cuter for my first post this year! Last week, we’d found a birds’ nest  (that’s what we thought!) inside an abandoned shopping bag in our balcony. Until one morning, a TINY squirrel fell out of the bag! It was a squirrel nest! And then another one crawled out. They refused to go back in, so we put them between some thick towels to help them get warm (baby squirrels need warmth) and then back into the nest. We waited for a couple of days to see if the mother showed up. It didn’t, so we called Blue Cross to ask them what to do. They asked us to bring them over immediately because baby squirrels can’t survive without proper care. We were very sad to part with them, but glad they are in safe hands 🙂
